Male Writers Who Challenge Stereotypes

We begin a new series with male authors whose works lean against stereotypes and invite them to comment on the issue of diversity in the publishing industry. Our aim is to identify male authors and editors who support women’s work and also to identify work that attempts to be more inclusive in its content, style, and themes.

This series is an experiment to see if common cause is possible for writers who want to broaden the scope of their work or to broaden the array of opportunities in publishing––or both.

If nothing else, we expect we’ll add to the diversity of our own reading and possibly inspire more conversation about literature that moves toward a wider world.
